Community Mental Health Volunteers

There is growing evidence that effective mental health interventions can be delivered by non-specialists in community settings. Mehac's model follows a two pronged approach of training and empowering people in the community to deliver quality mental health care, with appropriate guidance and supervision from trained medical professionals. In addition to providing basic psychosocial interventions, our volunteers act as mental health advocates in the communities they live in and refer people who need care to Mehac or one of our partners, as required.

In partnership with the National Health Mission (NHM), we have trained 5000+ people, including Anganwadi teachers, ASHA workers and medical professionals.
