Community Mental Health Projects

Mehac Foundation's projects involve mainly Community Mental Health projects and programmes in strengthening the psycho-social component in delivery of palliative care.

New Programmes

We are glad to let you know that Mehac has launched three new programs. They have different dimensions and signify cooperation with local activist groups as well as the Panchayat governing bodies.

One of these services is with the Vayali group at Arongotukkara in Thrissur ( Desamangalam Panchayat).
Dr Subramanian  and Dr Rajasree have taken the responsibility of managing the service. Both the doctors have a long record in public health services. Dr Subramanian is specialised in providing psychiatric care and Dr Rajasree is a dedicated Palliative Care physician with widespread experience.

The second service is in Elapully panchayat with Sneha Theeram Palliative Care Society. Dr Chitra along with Anupama would do a carry out a monthly inspection of the  services.

The third Service is a specialized unit for children with learning disorders and behavioral problems. This is part of a larger project in South Mararikulam Panchayat. This project would see collaboration with  with Vigyan Valley, a school for special children. The launch of the project was preceded by an awareness session for teachers and parents.

A few photos of the Mehac’s work at these centres have been uploaded in the Gallery section. Do take a look there too.

Current projects are in the southern Kerala districts of Eranakulam and Alappuzha. The foundation has initiated moves to advance the Mehac model to Kerala's capital of Thiruvanthapuram too in the near future.
